The battle for second place in the Off Campus Conference No. 2 heated up even more after today’s game between T9X and Lumberjax. Lumberjax were coming off a 9-4 loss to The Pirate Sheep, and were looking to bounce back and move up in the power rankings after receiving an honorable mention this week. On the other end of the ice, T9X was coming off an impressive shutout victory over Portals.
In the first period of action both teams came out strong with both teams getting 10 shots on goal in the first. With both teams generating a ton of offense it would be only a matter of time until T9X would take a 1-0 lead with a goal midway through the first period. Minutes later T9X would strike again and would head into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
The second period was much like the first period of action with both teams again coming out strong. However, it was not offense this time that would win the game, but rather it was the defense that would hold strong for both teams. In this period only a total of 12 shots were fired and of those 12 shots T9X would convert on one of them. The final score in this game would be 3-0 with T9X improving their season record to 4-1. With this win T9X now sits in a tie for second place in the conference.
With this game, goaltending was a very important key and it is only fitting that this game’s MVP go to the goalie who has registered his third shutout on the season. The game’s MVP will go to Alex Siedl of T9X who had a total of 16 saves this game.
