The first place standing for the Off Campus Conference No. 3 now stands at a tie as Cotton’s Candy picked up a much-needed victory over Progress Our Goal. Heading into this game Cotton’s Candy was 6-0 and behind the Fighting Artichokes by only two points in the conference. With this fueling the team they entered this contest very determined to pick up a win and make the game next week against the Fighting Artichokes even that much more important.
During the first half of this contest both teams would come out showing fairly even offensive power. Midway through the first period Cotton’s Candy would notch the first goal of the game on a breakaway. Not wanting to go down by too much, Progress Our Goal would quickly put one in and the game stood at one all. Before halftime Cotton’s Candy would score once more and take a halftime lead of 2-1.
The second half of this game was a completely different story, as the offense of Cotton’s Candy would step up big. Keeping the ball down on the other end of the ice was the strategy that Cotton’s Candy would use and it turns out that it would pay off greatly. With four unanswered goals, Cotton’s Candy would extend their lead to 6-1 and that’s how this one would end.
Scoring goals for Cotton’s Candy were team captain Alex Cotton with two, Matt Wilson with two, with Matt Browne and Joe Gallo each adding one. On the other end of the ice Luke Johnston scored for Progress Our Goal.
The MVP of this game again was a very hard choice for me to make. With both the defense and offense playing well for Cotton’s Candy, choosing one player to represent this team was a very daunting task. However looking at the stats from this game it became pretty obvious who should be the MVP. Scoring two goals and adding three assists to his team’s victory, the MVP for this game goes to the captain, Alex Cotton.
With this win, Cotton’s Candy will enter the clash of top two teams for the Off Campus Conference No. 3, this upcoming Tuesday. As this game is probably going to be the top of the week, the Lode will of course be there covering.

Just for the record, our team, Cotton’s Candy, voted Jake Mohan, defender, as MVP of the game for consistently shutting down their otherwise formidable offense.
