Michigan Tech Nordic Skiing began its season this past weekend in West Yellowstone, Mont.  Only a small group of Huskies made the trip out west, but it was a head start before going into this weekend’s races at Northern Michigan (weather permitting).

The weekend started with the Classical Sprint races and for the men, Sophomore Petter Sjulstad finished 44^th in 4:28 with Freshman Sondre Sandvik crossing at 55^th (4:35). For the women, Freshman Henna Rikonen-Purtsi tied for 44^th (5:31) with a Michigan Tech alum Kristina Owen.  Rounding out the group of Husky skiers was sophomore Melanie Hoffman finishing 89^th.

The 15K Freestyle saw Senior Jessie Lang finish 49^th for the Men and Sophomore Jackie Pribyl finished her 10K Freestyle in 77^th.  In the Classical 10K race, Sandvick finished 83^rd and Rikonen-Purtsi finished her 5K race in 72^nd.
