Men earn ugly 58-52 win over last-place Tiffin

Nobody expected the Huskies’ men’s basketball team to score 90 points against Tiffin like in their first match-up, but tonight’s GLIAC game fell on the other end of the spectrum. Even though Tiffin is winless over a year and a half in GLIAC games, the Dragons held Michigan Tech to just 19 first-half points, while scoring 24 of their own. Michigan Tech rallied, and even though it was ugly at (many) times, the Huskies escaped with a much-needed 58-52 win.

Huskies’ women slay Tiffin Dragons, 88-39

The Huskies new that if they slowed down Tiffin’s Mandy Jaeb, the leading scorer in the GLIAC, they would have a very good chance of winning on Thursday night. Not only did they do that, limiting Jaeb to seven points on 2-of-10 shooting, but they held every other Tiffin Dragon under seven points en route to a dominant 88-39 victory over Tiffin in front of 1,088 fans at the SDC Gym.

Huskies edge Tiffin 21-14 in final GLIAC road game

When Tiffin’s David Singleton hauled in a four-yard touchdown run not even five minutes into Saturday’s contest between the Dragons and the visiting Huskies, and the Huskies threw an interception on the following drive, Michigan Tech fans must have been thinking, “here we go again.” Michigan Tech had given up the first points in a game five times this year, losing all but one of them . Fortunately for the Huskies, Tiffin was a far weaker team than recent opponents, and Tech’s comeback was successful in a 21-14 victory in the last road match of the year.

Football enters final road trip against winless Tiffin

With no playoff hopes for the Michigan Tech Huskies (1-7, 1-7 GLIAC) or the Tiffin Dragons (0-9, 0-8 GLIAC), pride alone is on the line. Tiffin has won only one game since entering the GLIAC last year, that coming in a four overtime affair against Northern Michigan last year. Only once this year has Tiffin been within two touchdowns of opponents, but that came last week in a 21-17 loss at Indianapolis (the Greyhounds beat the Huskies 38-20 earlier this year).

Men’s netters fall to 0-4 in GLIAC

Frustrating could be a word used by head coach Mike Axford to describe the men’s tennis Huskies, especially since they started the season with such promise only to drop their first four GLIAC matches. The Huskies fell 6-3 on Saturday to the Ferris State Bulldogs and 9-0 on Sunday to the Grand Valley State Lakers.
