With all 15 players healthy for the first time since November, the Huskies chemistry may finally be coming together. Two road losses against Grand Valley, in which the team “lacked everything” according to coach Kevin Luke, and Ferris, in which the team was much improved, left a bitter taste in the Huskies’ mouths.

There is a huge difference between a 3-3 team and a 4-2 team, especially in the difficult Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. After Saturday’s 21-7 win against the previously 4-1, 25th-ranked Ferris State Bulldogs, the Huskies are among five teams in the GLIAC with a 4-2 overall record and a 3-2 GLIAC record. “Grand Valley is above everyone else, but after that, any team can win on any week, and we’ve worked hard to be among the top teams in the conference,” said Head Coach Tom Kearly. “It was a big win for us for Homecoming, but we’re not a good football team yet. We need to show that we can go on the road, on a long trip and beat somebody.
