Tennis teams find mixed success


At this point in the spring schedule, every win becomes a big one when attempting to qualify for the NCAA Tournament. On Wednesday, the women’s tennis Huskies had a tough dose of that as they dropped three three-set matches en route to a 6-3 loss to the St. Cloud State Huskies, who continued their hot spring run.

Nazi to be deported, should age factor?


The crimes against humanity by Nazi-controlled Germany have been well-documented over the years. As most readers are probably aware, Hitler-led Germany was responsible for the deaths of between five and six million people during the Holocaust, most of whom were from Jewish backgrounds. Many consider the crimes of the Nazi Party to be amongst the worst in history.

Men’s netters fall to 0-4 in GLIAC


Frustrating could be a word used by head coach Mike Axford to describe the men’s tennis Huskies, especially since they started the season with such promise only to drop their first four GLIAC matches. The Huskies fell 6-3 on Saturday to the Ferris State Bulldogs and 9-0 on Sunday to the Grand Valley State Lakers.

Women dominate Findlay Oilers


Michigan Tech women’s basketball didn’t need clutch shooting from Katie Zimmerman Thursday night against Findlay University as they celebrated an 84-47 victory over the Oilers. Winning by a one point margin in Ohio on Jan. 17, the Huskies proved their dominance at home. With just six turnovers and over 45 percent shooting, Michigan Tech gave Husky fans something to cheer about.

Huskies to face No. 1 Findlay


The Huskies are back in their home gym to play basketball after two consecutive weeks of road series to challenge GLIAC conference foes No. 1 Findlay University and Hillsdale University. The Men’s Basketball team went 1-1 when they played this series down in Ohio earlier this season.

GLIAC supremacy on the line


On Jan. 15 and 17 of this year, the Michigan Tech women’s basketball team was on the road playing Findlay University and Hillsdale College. A Katie Zimmerman buzzer-beating 3-pointer gave Michigan Tech a one point edge over the Oilers in Ohio, while a Lisa Staehlin buzzer-beating lay up in Hillsdale allowed the Huskies to avoid going to overtime.

Men earn sweep over Tiffin, Ashland


The Michigan Tech men’s basketball team traveled down to Ohio this past Winter Carnival weekend to take on GLIAC opponents Tiffin University and Ashland University. The squad went 2-0 on the weekend, putting their record at 11-10 overall and 8-8 in the GLIAC. Tech is holding on to fourth place in the GLIAC North Division.

Women take undefeated conference record into Tiffin, Ashland


With wins over Grand Valley State University and Ferris State University this past week, the Michigan Tech women’s basketball team will be headed out on the road for what will be the start of a four-game away series. The No. 8 ranked Huskies will open up the Winter Carnival week in Ohio on Thursday against Tiffin University before moving on for a game Saturday against Ashland University. Michigan Tech has worked hard for an undefeated 14-0 conference record, achieving the most conference wins in school history and moving toward increasing that standard.
