Women’s netters split on weekend


The women’s tennis Huskies started their Spring Break trip to Florida off with a bang on Saturday, defeating Puerto Rico Mayaguez, 6-3. On Sunday, the Huskies struggled to keep any momentum going, falling 5-4 to St. Leo.
The Huskies (13-5 overall) swept the doubles matches Saturday to get the early 3-0 lead in the match.

While most students at Michigan Tech look forward to their Spring Break vacations in warmer climates than Houghton, MI, both the women’s and men’s tennis Huskies will be travelling to Florida, but neither team is going for pleasure.

Over the weekend, the women’s tennis Huskies traveled to Indiana and Kentucky to face a pair of regional opponents in the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles and the Bellarmine Knights. The Huskies earned a 6-3 win over Southern Indiana, but fell 5-4 to Bellarmine.
